Idaho is home to beautiful and fascinating bridges. There are bridges, like the Perrine Memorial Bridge in Twin Falls, which were true engineering feats. There is also the Rainbow Bridge in Smiths Ferry, which is picturesque and absolutely stunning. Today, we want to take you to another bridge — one you may cross on a fabulous outdoor day trip in Idaho’s panhandle. It is the Chatcolet Bridge.
The Chatcolet Bridge is located on Lake Coeur d’Alene and it’s quite an impressive sight. This bridge stretches 3,100 feet across the lake.
The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes is one of the most impressive trails in Idaho ... and in the country. This trail is 73 miles and takes you from Plummer to Mullan.
Along your way, you will travel through farmlands and forests but many people love the ride over the Chatcolet Bridge. This bridge connects one of the last segments of the trail from Heyburn State Park to Plummer.

The Chatcolet Bridge is paved and perfect for walking, running, or cycling. However, there is a bit of an incline as you cross the bridge, especially when compared to other portions of the trail.
Have you crossed the Chatcolet Bridge? Or have you explored the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes? Let us know in the comments. You can also learn more about the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes on the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation website.
No matter if you spend time walking, running, or cycling on the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, make sure you are prepared with the right gear. You’ll find some of the best at REI and Backcountry.
