Once winter officially arrives in Idaho, it seems like the entire Gem State becomes a winter wonderland. But, tucked away in the small town of Rigby is a wonderland like no other. The LaBelle Lake Ice Palace is a magical, enchanting destination that will make you feel like you are in the middle of a snow globe. You can walk through incredible ice tunnels, go down an ice slide, and even meet some of your favorite winter characters — there’s truly nowhere like it in Idaho.
Throughout the winter season, you can experience the magic that winter brings at LaBelle Lake Ice Palace.
This incredible winter wonderland began in 2018 by Jim and Shannon Youngstrom. The couple and their six kids work together each year to create this ice wonderland that is unlike anything else you’ll experience in Idaho.
This ice palace is a destination filled with excitement, magic, and wonder. You can walk through the palace, which is made completely of ice and snow. There are ice tunnels to explore, unique structures to admire, and multi-colored lights that make this an unforgettable winter attraction.
There are two sleigh ride options available at LaBelle Lake Ice Palace. One ride will take you to the LaBelle Lake Resort, where you can spend time sledding and sipping on free hot chocolate. The second ride will take you through the woods and along the Snake River, giving you a relaxing ride with beautiful winter wonderland views. Both sleigh ride options require an additional fee.
You also won’t want to miss the fire shows and performances by fire dancers. There’s something special about watching a show with fire and being surrounded by ice.
Also, make sure you come hungry when you visit the LaBelle Lake Ice Palace as there are plenty of food and drink options. From street tacos to mini donuts to wood-fired pizza, you’ll easily find something to satisfy your cravings.
The LaBelle Lake Ice Palace opens mid-to-late December but is weather dependent. You will want to visit this ice wonderland’s website for exact dates and times.
When you visit the ice palace, make sure to bundle up. You won’t want to forget boots, gloves, snow pants, and other warm clothing.
