If there’s one thing your tastebuds will learn after traveling around the state, it’s that when it comes to restaurants you simply can’t judge a book (or eatery) by its cover. These Idaho restaurants prove that in the best way possible. They may or may not look like much from the outside, but inside there’s a surprisingly tasty world awaiting discovery. Check them out.
1. Chops Eats, Driggs
"Teton Street Food" at its finest, this itty bitty hut packs a powerful made-with-love punch that locals and visitors alike rave about...one that can easily rival the best of the best sit down eateries in the Teton Valley. Fresh, flavorful, and made to order, diners can't go wrong with the hearty portions here, no matter what you're in the mood for! Try the Bison Kabobs, the Grilled Porkchop Sando with a homemade cranberry BBQ sauce and apple slaw, or the straight fire Mac and Cheese...but don't forget dessert! (Hint: try the Banana Split Brulee with chai spiced walnuts and Teton huckleberries.)
Address : 475 S Main St. Driggs, ID 83422
2. Millie's Bar and Grill, Priest River
One of Priest River's long-standing eateries recently re-opened with a new take on deliciousness. Millie's is a comfortable and welcoming gem that serves up a little something for everyone: street tacos, fresh pizzas, delicious burgers (try the Jalapeño Burger), and creative entrees like the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl - served in a sweet pineapple bowl. YUM!
Address : 28441 Highway 57, Priest River, ID 83856
3. Hub Bar and Grill, Kamiah
This place is unassuming with its bar-like facade, but don't be fooled! A second door leads to the main restaurant where friendly digs welcome the famished adventurer to North Idaho. Deliciously tantalizing Philly Cheesesteaks, fresh homemade soups, and even gorgeous fresh salads make this an unexpected but tasty choice to dine in the woodsy town.
Address : 406 Main St. Kamiah, ID 83536
4. Rusty Moose, Bonners Ferry
Located just about as far North as you can get in Idaho, tucked away in Bonners Ferry, the Rusty Moose is a local favorite that has an extra dose of history thrown in; an old time tavern feel and a long-standing building that adds a special ambiance. Some say the clams are the best you'll find off the coast, but burgers, soups, and sandwiches round out the menu.
Address : 7211 Main St, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805
5. City Limits Brew Pub, Wallace
In the world of hole-in-the-wall restaurants, pubs, and dining gems, City Limits in Wallace is quite possibly the most unassuming of them all, hidden on the very outskirts of town. But the inside is worlds away from its exterior, and the food served up is beyond fantastic. Their hand-battered chicken wings have topped our lists before, but homemade Three-Cheese Ravioli, a delectable Miner's Burger, toasted sandos, and even fresh soups all add up to make this eatery a must-stop. Bonus points for the wide selection of beers brewed onsite.
Address : 108 Nine Mile Rd. Wallace, ID 83873
6. Slice and Biscuit, Moscow
Pizza and biscuits and gravy served in the same space? Why not! Slice and Biscuit does amazing things with their unexpectedly creative menu. Biscuits with the perfect balance of crunch and fluffy moist center, gravy with just a hint of spice, and enormous slices of piping hot pizza dripping with cheese on top of a made-from-scratch dough. Do yourself a favor, and give everything on their menu a try!
Address : 125 E 2nd St. Moscow, ID 83843
7. Loaf & Ladle, Sandpoint
This charming little home-turned-restaurant is everything that an eatery should be: transforming fresh, high-quality ingredients into healthy, colorful, and delicious meals - with plenty of vegetarian options thrown in for good measure. Whether you visit for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, diners particularly rave about the French Dip and Veggie Nachos, but you'll fall head over heels for the Caramelized Onion-Potato Soup or Jamaican Tofu... seriously. Or, play it safe with a Jalapeño Burger, complete with a delicious pineapple chutney or the Sockeye Salmon.
Address : 124 S 2nd Ave. Sandpoint, ID 83864
