Every Idahoan knows the go-to lakes for spending a summer day. Redfish lake. Payette Lake. Coeur d’Alene Lake. But if you’re looking for something a little less populated, be sure to check out Imogene Lake. Imogene is one of the most stunning lakes in the Sawtooths and is sure to become one of your new favorite summer spots.
Imogene is an alpine lake, located in the Sawtooth mountains just about 15 miles southwest of Stanley, Idaho.
Imogene is not nearly as crowded as nearby Alice Lake, and the surrounding scenery will blow you away.
You can get to the lake by hiking up a beautiful and scenic 9 mile trail.
The trail rises about 1,000 feet in elevation, so it can be quite strenuous...but it also offers some beautiful sights of waterfalls and streams like this one.
The lake itself is well worth the hike, with expansive crystal clear waters.
There are plenty of little nooks to explore on or off the trails around the lake. It's not hard to find solitude at Imogene or any of the surrounding lakes nearby.
At an elevation of 10,716 feet, the nearby Mount Cramer is definitely a sight to be experienced.
Imogene Lake is just downright gorgeous. See for yourself - you definitely won't regret making the trip.
