Teton Valley is one of the most beautiful destinations in Idaho. With the Teton Mountains as a backdrop, this area is picturesque no matter where you are located. Tetonia is one of the small towns nestled in the valley and may just be one of the most under-the-radar destinations to visit when fall arrives. Leaf peeping is wonderful here, but that’s just the beginning of the autumn activities just waiting to be explored and enjoyed.
Tetonia is a small town of approximately 300 residents. It sits on the northern section of the Teton Valley and is approximately 40 miles from Jackson, Wyoming.
Due to the town’s small nature, there isn’t tons to do and see inside of town. But when you visit during the fall, that’s perfectly okay. You’ll want to spend all of your time outside anyway.
This is a 70-mile scenic drive that takes you from Ashton to Swan Valley. Even if you drive just a small portion of it, you are going to be in for a breathtaking journey.
This is a 29.6-mile trail that follows an abandoned railroad grade. You’ll walk or cycle over trestle bridges, past historic structures, and through the most beautiful scenery — especially in the fall.
You’ll have a bit of a climb on this hiking trail but the reward is well worth the effort! Just make sure you have the right gear for your fall adventure!
And with so many outdoor places to explore during the fall in Tetonia, I recommend you plan a visit and stay for a while.
There are many vacation rentals in the Teton Valley including this charming mountain family cabin that sleeps seven guests, features a hot tub and sauna, and the views of the Tetons are stunning.
When searching for places to spend a fall day, weekend, or longer, add Tetonia to your list. It’s an outdoor lover’s paradise and an under-the-radar fall destination that will make you fall in love with this time of year.
