Located in Bonneville County, Ririe Reservoir is a popular recreation spot for Idahoans come summertime. You can get away from the crowds and enjoy a peaceful section of this beloved swimming spot when you visit Blacktail Day Use Park.
The park is tucked away on a secluded part of the southern end of the reservoir. Surrounded by the beautiful East Idaho scenery, this little park is absolute bliss and it makes for a tremendous swimming destination.
Comprised of over 1,500 acres, Ririe Reservoir is a recreational paradise. Idahoans have been enjoying its endless summertime activities for decades, and it's become an essential destination for many local families. Water skiing, kayaking, fishing, boating, and good ol' fashioned swimming—this place has it all.
Complete with a boat lunch, fishing docks, and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the water, the park is great for whatever type of recreation you have in mind. Take out the boat for a ride around the reservoir or simply wade around and enjoy the refreshing water. The opportunities are endless!
The park is well-developed and comes with fire pits, restrooms, pavilions for picnicking, and a large parking lot. Keep in mind that there is a $5 fee to enter the park on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
You may not be totally alone when you visit Blacktail Park, but you'll find that the area boasts plenty of space for families to stretch out and enjoy the scenery. It definitely beats being shoulder to shoulder on a crowded beach!
