Aptly named Little Ski Hill, this modest winter recreation area can be found just two miles west of McCall. Don't let the park's relatively small area fool you. Little Ski Hill boasts all you need to get started with Idaho's favorite winter pastime.
Formerly known as Payette Lakes Ski Area, Little Ski Hill was first established in 1937 as a winter diversion for local forest workers. People have been coming here every winter ever since! The small hill isn't nearly as intimidating as some of the state's big, fancy mountain resorts, and that's just what we love about it.
In fact, many prominent skiers got their start at Little Ski Hill. Ski legend and local Corey Engen taught at this hill before developing the nearby Brundage Mountain Resort. Additionally, World Cup alpine ski racer, Patty Boydstun, grew up in McCall and learned to ski at this very hill, as well!
The park itself is comprised of a 450-foot vertical drop that's accessed via a T-bar lift. Additionally, the terrain park is a great destination for practicing moves and free styling to your heart's content.
If you're more interested in cross country skiing, you'll be pleased to know that Little Ski Hill offers 30 kilometers of groomed ski trails at the the Little Bear Basin Nordic facility. Spend the day cruising across the mountains and taking in the breathtaking winter scenery.
