Farragut State Park is one of our favorite state parks in Idaho. This 4,000-acre park sits along the southern shore of Lake Pend Oreille and is not only beautiful but it is historic as well. While many people come to this state park to learn a little history and for its incredible camping opportunities, there is something else that this park has to offer — the Willow Lake View Trail. This short and sweet trail is one of the best family-friendly hikes in Idaho and one of our favorite hikes in Farragut State Park.
The Willow Lake View Trail checks off all the boxes for the perfect hiking trail in the Gem State. This trail is flat, accessible, beautiful, and short.
… and gives you incredible lake views. The entire one-mile journey has something to offer every hiker and you will constantly be surrounded by pure beauty.
The trail is well-maintained and well-trafficked, making it much easier to tackle. The path is also quite wide, making it easy for young families or large groups to explore.
While the trail is short, we recommend that you take your time. Benches are placed along the path and are where you can just sit back and bask in the beauty of the area.
Some portions of the hike allow for easy access to the water. You may even find a secluded beach and just enjoy some time in the water without the crowds — it’s perfect for a day at the lake.
The Willow Lake View Trail may become your favorite hiking trail in Farragut State Park. With breathtaking views, a well-maintained trail, and benches where you can sit and admire the views, it’s perfect.
