Here in Idaho, we like to do things a little differently. For instance, why go to the nearest neighborhood restaurant for a meal when you can set off on a backcountry adventure to this restaurant way out in the boonies? Secesh Stage Stop isn’t your typical restaurant. Boasting a rustic roadhouse atmosphere and located smack dab in the middle of nowhere, it’s the type of place you either specifically seek out or accidentally stumble upon—nothing in between. However, you’ll definitely realize that this place is SO worth the effort it takes to find it because it’s unlike any other dining experience you’ve had before.
The next time you find yourself exploring the pristine backcountry near McCall, Idaho, you might just stumble across a remote restaurant that most people don't even know exists. Secesh Stage Stop may be located way out in the boonies, but it's so worth a visit.
Secesh Stage Stop is many things. It's a place to fuel up, get a drink, have a meal, or even sleep for the night. Simply put, it's a nice adventure break for off-road travelers in the McCall area.
This delightful retreat is open year-round. In the spring and summer months, it's just a 35-mile drive from McCall, with pavement all the way to the Burgdorf Hot Springs turn-off (around 5 miles unpaved.) During the winter, people make their way to Secesh via groomed snowmobile trails that lead you through Secesh Meadows.
The stage stop is owned by a couple, Kevin and Cheri Comstock, who purchased it in 2013. They came upon the heavenly region known as Secesh Meadows as most people do—by utter surprise. They knew right away that they wanted to purchase a cabin here, so they did!
Secesh Stage Stop is open to customers every day, serving up tasty, fresh-off-the-grill food that is perfect after a long day of adventure. They serve primarily burgers and hot dogs, although they do offer a few rotating specials.
The food is a nice touch, but that's not what makes this place so special. It's the rugged atmosphere and general camaraderie you'll find at Secesh that makes this a dining experience to remember. It's the type of place you walk into and instantly feel like you're visiting old friends.
In fact, you may find that you like Secesh Meadows so much that you can't resist staying for a few nights. IN that case, rent one of their cabins or set up camp at one of the numerous tent sites nearby. Secesh Stage Stop is more than a place to grab a bite. It's an unforgettable adventure.
You'll find Secesh Stage Stop at 24728 Warren Wagon Rd, McCall, ID 83638. For more information about them, visit their website
