Fall is the perfect time to head outdoors. The weather is cool, and the fall foliage transports you into a sea of red, orange, and yellow. While there are several incredible fall hikes in Idaho that you should consider, one of our favorites is Goose Creek Falls. Near McCall, this easy fall hike in Idaho will not only take you through some of the most vibrant fall colors, but you’ll receive a rewarding payoff at the end — a beautiful waterfall. Goose Creek Falls Trail is located within the Payette National Forest. This is one of the best family-friendly fall hikes in Idaho, and it is a fabulous way to spend a fall day.
You will find the trailhead by taking Idaho 55 to Brundage Mountain Road. You will know that you are in the right spot when you reach a fairly large parking area.
The Goose Creek Trail is three miles. It’s long enough to help you truly immerse yourself in nature but not so long that you become overwhelmed and tired.
You will enjoy a decline as you trek toward the falls, but coming back will be much steeper and more difficult. Take your time and just enjoy some of Idaho's natural beauty.
The majority of this trail is through the forest. This means that not only will you enjoy the shade, but you’ll also feel like you are walking through a painting with the beautiful fall foliage surrounding you.
After you cross the bridge, it isn’t too much farther until you reach Goose Creek Falls. While spring is the best time to see these falls, the area is still absolutely gorgeous in autumn.
