When you think of beautiful bridges in Idaho, the Perrine Memorial Bridge and the Moynie River Bridge are usually the first to come to mind. However, the Rainbow Bridge near Smith’s Ferry, Idaho deserves just as much attention. This is a historic bridge that is truly one of the most beautiful and picturesque features in Idaho. As you travel on Highway 55, just above Smith’s Ferry, you will come to Rainbow Bridge, also known as North Fork Payette River Bridge. Built in 1933, this historic bridge has been wowing travelers for decades and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This is a beautiful 410-foot-long concrete arch bridge. Surrounded by lush forests, this bridge is going to inspire you. In fact, as early as the 1930s, this bridge was known as one of the most beautiful in all of Idaho.
The Rainbow Bridge was designed by Charles A. Kyle and cost approximately $74,000. At the time of construction, it was considered leading edge and a major engineering feat.
