The livin' is easy here in Idaho! According to a report by Safewise , the top ten safest cities in the state are Weiser, Rexburg, Fruitland, Shelley, Rathdrum, Moscow, Preston, Rupert, Middleton, and Hailey.
If you've lived in Idaho for long, then you know it's typically a peaceful and quiet place to live. In fact, both Idaho's violent and property crime rates are far below the national average, and about 74% of Idahoans express feeling safe here (55% is the national average.)
The report from Safewise was compiled using FBI crime data. The results showed that Idahoans are nearly 30% less concerned about crime than the rest of the United States, with package theft being the crime that Idahoans are least concerned about.
Weiser, Idaho was named the safest city in the Gem State. Last year, the small town reported zero violent or property crimes. Go, Weiser! Shelley follows close behind that record with only one violent crime reported in the last 12 months.
All of the ten cities mentioned by Safewise boast property crime rates far below the state, regional, and national average. Additionally, Fruitland alone cut its property crime nearly in half from the last year.
Idaho also has lower rates of violent crime than the rest of the nation. Preston was the only city mentioned by Safewise that reported a murder. In the past 12 months, only 4% of Idahoans experienced a violent crime and 1% experienced gun violence.
Simply put, Idaho has proven to be a safe place to live - no matter where in the Gem State you find yourself settling down. See the full report and learn more by visiting the Safewise website.
