As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
It’s no secret that Idaho is a great place to vacation. Our beautiful state even offers up some truly unique places to stay to make your trip a memorable one. From cabins, lodges, yurts to even treehouses or fire lookout towers …you name it, and Idaho has it. The lodge featured here, Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch, is one of the most extraordinary places to stay for a blissful getaway in the mountains!
The beautiful ranch vacation retreat known as Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch is located among Idaho's Rocky Mountains and along the breathtaking Salmon River. This is a place that combines an Old West atmosphere with a lush and totally relaxed experience.
The resort is absolutely stunning. The lodge first opened in 1930 as the "Idaho Rocky Mountain Club." The entire lodge, including the cabins, are constructed from logs. The cabin-like architecture is impeccable!
The ranch has retained it's original rustic feel over the last century and is even part of the National Register of Historic Places.
The rooms are even more impressive. The resort consists of 17 cabins and four lodge rooms, all of which look like something out of a dream. These charming rooms are cozy and provide the comfort you'd feel in your own home, but at the same time are luxurious enough to ensure you feel pampered.
Every room comes with an extravagant private bathroom with either a bathtub or an Oakley stone shower. There are no televisions, phones, or radios in the rooms...which ensures a truly unplugged and relaxing getaway from city life.
Enjoy a superb view of the surrounding scenery on the porch in the evening. The surroundings are absolutely unreal. You'll wonder how more people don't know about this place!
There are plenty of activity options around the resort during the daytime. In fact, you can do just about anything.
Take one of the hundreds of hiking trails that will lead you through the Sawtooth and White Cloud Mountains. Fish at one of the many streams feeding into the glorious Salmon River. Go horseback riding, mountain biking, rock climbing, or soak in a natural hot spring! There's no need for WiFi here, because nature provides all of the entertainment you could desire.
This is the perfect place for people of all activity levels. If extreme adventuring isn't your thing, there are plenty of ways to just relax and take in the incredible scenery.
Or you can explore the unique eccentricities of the nearby towns of Stanley, Sun Valley, Ketchum, or Challis. You can even stop at one of the ghost towns such as Custer or Bonanza on the way back!
This part of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area is like a hidden paradise. With no crowds blocking your view of the stunning landscape, you'll probably find that you never want to leave.
