We count ourselves endlessly lucky to live in a state with such diverse landscape. From mountaintops to vast swaths of desert, Idaho truly has it all. Just when you thought you knew what Idaho was all about, you come across a new (to you) landscape that surprises you once again! One of our state’s most unique landscapes is the place featured here. Known as the City of Rocks, it’s a popular destination for hiking, camping, and rock climbing. See it for yourself with one of the park’s many trails and don’t be afraid to lose yourself in this incredible rock maze.
Located near the small town of Almo in southern Idaho is a one-of-a-kind landscape that you won't be able to resist exploring. Full of the most unique granite formations, City of Rocks is the type of place you don't mind getting lost in.
City of Rocks is an especially popular destination for rock climbing, for obvious reasons. However, there are all sorts of recreational opportunities to take advantage of here, including numerous hiking trails.
There are 22 miles of hiking trails that will allow you to traverse this stunning rock maze like you never dreamed of. The trails will lead you to arches, windows, and dramatic overlooks that is seriously the stuff of dreams.
Whether you're the type of hiker who likes to take it easy or the type who loves a good challenge, there's a trail for you here. Short and easy trails include the Window Arch Trail (300-feet long), Bath Rock Trail (1,800-feet loop trail) and the Creekside Towers Trail (1.6 miles out-and-back trail.)
If you're looking for something a little more substantial, you'll want to keep your eyes peeled for the Geologic Interpretive Trail or the North Fork Circle Creek trail. Both of these can keep you busy for the day while escaping the crowds at the same time.
Whichever trail you end up exploring, you're bound to be blown away by the unique beauty of this rugged landscape. With the gigantic rock formations looming over you, you can definitely see why they call it "City of Rocks".
