Autumn is such a great time of year to partake in family-friendly activities here in Idaho. There’s just something about the crisp fall weather and the abundance of delightful gourds that never fails to ignite happiness inside of us! Check out one of Idaho’s most charming fall traditions when you attend the annual Ammon Pumpkin Walk. This small-town tradition is one seriously charming way to celebrate the season, and your kiddos will definitely love it.
Nestled in between foothills and the city of Idaho Falls, the little city of Ammon is one of Idaho's lesser-known communities. Home to an estimated population of 15,000, the city retains a small town atmosphere that you just can't help but love.
For the past few years, the city has thrown the Ammon Pumpkin Walk during the month of October. This year, the event will take place between October 26th and October 31st, and it's a family-friendly experience you should definitely consider attending.
Now in its fourth year, the pumpkin walk will take place at McCowin Park. For five whole days, a beautiful and unique array of pumpkins will be put on display for all to see.
Everybody is invited to join in on the fun and enter their own display. There is no fee to enter, but participants with winning displays will enjoy cash prizes! The displays have been wildly creative in past years and we're excited to see what people come up with this time.
A kickoff event will be held on October 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. During this time, families can enjoy the displays, play games, and watch live music and dance performances in the park.
On the last day of the pumpkin walk, the Ammon Fire Department will hold their annual trick or treating event in the park. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and goes until the candy runs out, so come prepared with your costume and candy sack.
The Ammon Pumpkin Walk has only been around for a few years, but it's already become a treasured tradition for eastern Idaho families. Check it out for yourself this year and join in on this festive fun!
