The Sawtooths are a mountain range of the Rocky Mountains that stretch across 678 square miles. Named after their uniquely jagged peaks, the mountains have become an iconic symbol of Idaho's beauty.
The Sawtooth Range has the ability to inspire anybody who witnesses them with their own eyes. Of course, photographs of this rugged mountain range are a visual treat, but nothing beats seeing them firsthand.
There are a variety of ways to explore the Sawtooth Mountains and the encompassing Sawtooth Wilderness. In fact, the wilderness area is home to 40 trails that total over 350 miles! Used for day hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding, there's always an adventure to be had in the Sawtooths.
Another thing that sets the Sawtooths apart is the sheer number of lakes that are hiding within them. The Sawtooth Wilderness is home to up to 400 lakes, most of which were created by alpine glaciers that vanished over time.
With 57 peaks that clock in at over 10,000-feet in elevation, the towering size of the mountains is just another reason to fall in love with the Sawtooths. One of the range's most famous peaks, McGown Peak, is just under 10,000-feet but acts as an idyllic backdrop to the gorgeous Stanley Lake.
