Here in Idaho, burgers are a staple food. Nothing hits the spot quite as well as a perfectly cooked burger with a side of Idaho potato fries. Luckily for us, it’s pretty easy to come across a restaurant that serves just that. Pickle’s Place in Arco, Idaho is a nostalgic eatery that has been serving up burgers for years. This place is a classic stop for tourists visiting the city that was the first to be lit by atomic energy. They are widely known for having the best burgers in eastern Idaho. If you find yourself in this area, a stop at this iconic restaurant is a must.
Located in Arco, Pickle's Place is hard to miss. The vibrant green restaurant is characterized by a giant sign that yells "Eat" and their famous pickle mascot. Whether you're a local or just passing through on your way to Yellowstone, this place is a must.
The interior will throw you back to the days where little diners like this were commonplace. This small town eatery is big on good ol' Western hospitality. It's the type of place where everybody knows everybody.
The Atomic Burger, made with grilled onions and mushrooms, is the restaurant's most famous item. However, the Idaho Burger (topped with an egg), Tijuana Burger (topped with green chili peppers), and the Pirate Burger (topped with ham and swiss cheese), and other specialty burgers are all fantastic.
You absolutely can't leave without ordering a side of fried pickles. It is Pickle's Place after all. If you're not in the mood for a burger, you'll definitely find something else you desire on their extensive menu. Sandwiches, fish-n-chips, chicken, steak...you name it, they got it.
There's something about Pickle's burgers that make them taste different from any other burger. That's because they are different. Every burger is seasoned with the chef's special seasoning spice. The spice is so good that they even started bottling it and selling it at the restaurant.
Don't forget to take a picture on the Big Green Chair on the way out. It'll serve as a reminder of your time at one of Idaho's few remaining nostalgic burger joints.
