If you've been on the hunt for your next big outdoor getaway destination, you'll want to consider wandering over to the little town of Hagerman. This sleepy town may be small, but it's here that you'll find some big adventure.
Hagerman is probably most well-known for being home to the Hagerman Fossil Beds. However, there's so much more to this place than this one destination. Although, we'll admit the fossil bed are a must-stop!
Once in town, your first stop should be the Hagerman Wildlife Management Area. This little-known gem is delightfull all year round. Boasting 880 acres, it's a quiet place to walk around and observe all types of wildlife, especially waterfowl.
However, there's so much more to see so be sure to preserve your energy. Your next stop should be the awe-inspiring Thousand Springs State Park. There are multiple units to explore but Ritter Island, located along the Snake River in between two large springs, is a must.
Earl M. Hardy Box Canyon is also part of the state park. This 350-acre canyon features 250-foot-high vertical walls and the 11th larges spring in all of North America. Boasting the bluest water you've ever seen, this spring is a stunning sight that you need to experience.
Malad Gorge is also nearby. Despite being located right off I-84, this place is an underrated gem that few people even know about. The canyon, formed by the Malad River, features a 60-foot waterfall as well.
When visiting the Hagerman area, you'll be met with endless opportunities. This area really encourages the "choose your own adventure" style of exploring, and it's a must-see for an outdoor enthusiast. Get lost in nature for a bit and see it for yourself!
