The long-anticipated mountain roller coaster that Boise’s Bogus Basin Ski Resort has been working on is finally open to the public. At last, Idaho is home to a roller coaster which takes you through an incredible mountain landscape and is a thrilling ride all year long. This thing is sure to bring out your inner child so hurry up and plan your next trip to the mountains. You’re going to want to experience this roller coaster as soon as possible.
Bogus Basin has officially become the first mountain resort in Idaho to feature a mountain roller coaster. Located in southwest Idaho just a short drive away from downtown Boise, the resort is a favorite among skiers and snowboarders for its 2,600 acres of skiable terrain.
The mountain roller coaster, called The Glade Runner, has been in progress for several months. It was initially scheduled to be opened in November but the opening date was pushed back. The coaster was officially opened up to the public on December 22, 2017.
The mountain coaster spans 4,330 feet while winding and twisting you through the incredible forest setting. There's no better way of experiencing the mountains than this.
The coaster reaches speeds up to 25 mph, and takes you up to 40 feet in the air. One of the coolest things about the coaster is that each individual can control their own speed. Adrenaline junkies can simply pull the lever to go maximum speed. Or you can take it slow and steady so you can truly soak in all the mountainous beauty.
Each cart accommodates up to two people (a driver and a rider). The coaster is open during both winter and summer, making it the perfect year round activity. Can you picture winding your way through the gorgeous green forestry? You can't get a better view than this.
However, the mountain roller coaster is definitely something that should be experienced during winter. Bogus Basin looks simply outstanding covered in looming snow-capped pines. The feeling of the crisp mountain air against your face as you ride through the forest is electrifying.
You can see the coaster in action by watching the video below. The minimum age to ride the coaster is 16, but children above 3 years old can ride tandem with someone else. Tickets for the coaster are $15 for a solo rider and $25 for a couple. Season pass holders to Bogus Basin can receive $5 off their first coaster ride.
