Idaho is home to enchanting small towns — towns that are full of delightful places to visit, friendly faces, and unforgettable experiences. While many of these small towns are just a short drive from larger cities, there are some that are tucked away and isolated. Avery, Idaho is one of these destinations. This remote town in Idaho is located in the St. Joe River Valley in northern Idaho and despite its small size, it’s truly the perfect place to get away from it all.
Avery is a teeny tiny town in Idaho. In fact, less than 100 people call it home.
However, if you want to disconnect, relax, and get away from the hustle of daily life, Avery is a wonderful place to go. In town, you can stop by the Avery Gift Shop. This is a unique store in the middle of nowhere with some of the most delicious goods and fabulous products.
If you are like me, the perfect getaway involves some time outdoors and Avery has no shortage of options. For example, I suggest you lace up your hiking boots and tackle the St. Joe National Forest Trail 17.
This hiking trail is one of the best in the area. The hike is easy, approximately four miles, and features the coolest foot suspension bridge.
Avery sits right along the St. Joe River and not only will you enjoy some breathtaking views of the river during your visit, but you can disconnect while fishing, capture stunning photos, or observe wildlife.
Have you ever spent time in this remote town in Idaho? What are some of your favorite things to do in Avery, Idaho? What other destinations in the Gem State do you love to visit? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
