Idaho is known as a state where you can get away — it is quiet, relaxing, and heavenly. In fact, Idaho is such a serene place to live that Boise was named one of the most peaceful places to live in the entire country. From its beautiful riverwalk to family-friendly attractions galore, there really is so much to do and see in the City of Trees that we aren’t surprised it received this honor. Here are just a few reasons why Boise is one of the best places to live in Idaho:
Boise is not only known as the City of Trees but it is now considered one of the most peaceful places to live in the country.
According to Money Inc, Boise ranked at the top due to its peaceful and secure vibe and all-around happiness. This city enjoys a low crime rate, good employment, and an affordable cost of living.

Plus, there is so much to do in this capital city. For one, you can spend your days along the Boise River Greenbelt, which is considered one of the best riverwalks in America.
The Boise River Greenbelt is 25 miles and takes you through numerous parks and over a dozen bridges, and the path is lined with trees. While we love exploring this paved trail all year long, we are particularly fond of the autumn months when the greenbelt is lined with hues of orange, red, and yellow.

You can also enjoy a day at the Idaho Botanical Garden.
Located in the foothills of Boise, this breathtaking garden is one of the oldest in the state and is a 15-acre oasis. The Idaho Botanical Garden also hosts numerous events throughout the year from holiday lights to fairy house exhibits.
And if you want to take a step back in time, or even experience a chill down your spine, you can take a tour at the Old Idaho Penitentiary. This is one of Idaho’s most historic buildings and is also considered one of the most haunted buildings in America!
Foodies love visiting Boise with all of its incredible restaurants. From classy steakhouses to casual restaurants where fries are the main course, there are many unique and delicious places to eat throughout the city.
And for a day spent with the entire family, Zoo Boise is a must-visit destination. This zoo is more than 100 years old and one of the largest attractions in the state.
While we know Boise is truly one of a kind when it comes to great places to live, Money Inc listed Lincoln Nebraska, and Green Bank, West Virginia, as the only two cities more peaceful and laid-back in America.
