An escape into nature is the ideal way to disconnect, relax, and get away from the hustle of daily life. While there are excellent trails all around the Gem State that are perfect for a day outdoors, located in Ada County is the family-friendly Seaman’s Gulch Trail. This hiking trail is short and easy, and takes you to incredible views of the city and surrounding area. It’s one loop trail in Idaho that adventurers of all ages will enjoy.
The Seaman’s Gulch Trail is part of the Ridge to Rivers Management Area in Treasure Valley. Ridge to Rivers is a network of trails and roads that help people get out of the city and into nature.
The Seaman’s Gulch Trail is one of the trails in this network that definitely deserves a visit. The trailhead is located just off North Seaman Gulch Road near Garden City, in the Ridge to Rivers parking lot.
This is a 1.8-mile loop trail that is considered quite easy. This trail is well-marked and you will climb approximately 200 feet in elevation.
Portions of this trail will make you feel far away from the city. These are areas where you can slow down and enjoy the peace that the outdoors can bring.
Other portions are near roads and private land so always stay on the trail for your safety and to respect landowners. Also, make sure you come prepared with plenty of water and sun protection as there is no shade along this trail.
While this trail is open all year long, spring is an excellent time to explore. During this time of year, you will have wildflowers lining your path and green trees in your view — it’s pure perfection.
