Boasting vibrant turquoise-colored water, Bear Lake is absolutely striking. The lake's intense color is caused by the presence of suspended limestone, and it makes for an incredibly photogenic place to spend the day.
There are several recreational parks in both Utah and Idaho situated along the lake's shores. A popular one in the Gem State is North Beach Bear Lake State Park, which offers swimmers two miles of shoreline at the north end of the lake.
The natural freshwater lake is 109-square-miles in size and it's considered a recreational paradise for all sorts of water-based activities. Best of all, its shorelines are perfect for laying on!
The lake bottom's gradual slope makes for an enormous swimming area that hundreds of people can enjoy at one time. On a nice and clear day, you'll often see the beach loaded with swimmers, boaters, fishermen, and spectators.
Additionally, Bear Lake is outfitted with several recreational areas, including campsites and picnic areas. You can always scout out your own personal spot on the lake for when you feel like escaping the crowds.
