When you find yourself in desperate need of an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, camping can be the perfect solution. Camping gives us an opportunity to slow down and immerse ourselves in Idaho’s natural beauty. However, packed campgrounds can bring all of that to a screeching halt. If you’re the type of person that prefers a serene camping experience, you’ll definitely want to consider spending a few nights at this island campground. This remote campsite offers up stunning beauty, endless recreation, and best of all, peace and quiet.
Have you ever wished you could escape to your very own island? It turns out you can when you plan a little getaway to Bartoo Island on Priest Lake.
Located in the middle of the lake, Bartoo Island can be found approximately six miles from the southern shore. The dreamy little island is home to 23 developed campsites across eight locations on the island.
This island campsite is pure paradise for those who enjoy camping's rustic nature. The island is only reachable by boat, and the campsites are truly no-frills. Although each campsite does contain picnic tables and fire rings, there are no restroom facilities or drinking water available.
The island's roughness ensures you'll have a completely authentic camping experience, surrounded totally by the lake and island's natural beauty. With the shores of Priest Lake just a stone's throw away, it's impossible to not feel like you're in heaven.
Spend your days taking advantage of all the recreational opportunities that the lake has to offer. Boating is an ideal activity on the lake, but you could spend hours fishing, swimming, and simply sitting on the beach and taking it all in.
There are also several things to do off the island, including hiking the Lakeshore of Beach Trails that wind around the western shore of the lake. Priest Lake is truly one of Idaho's greatest natural attractions, and exploring it is always a treat.
All campsites on Bartoo Island are first-come first-served and cost $10 per night, except for the group site which is also known as the Sunrise Group Site. This stunning group campground can accommodate up to 30 people, and it costs just $15 per night.
