When warm weather hits, there’s nothing like slapping a hunk of beef on the grill and enjoying your carnivorous roots with family and friends. But sometimes, a grill isn’t available or perhaps you want something a little finer – after all, few things in life are as sacred as an exceptional steak. While not typically known as a steak mecca, Idaho is fortunate to be home to several delicious steakhouses of mouthwatering proportions. In no particular order, the following are just 10 places where you can find the best steaks in Idaho.
1. Pioneer Saloon, Ketchum
Kevin R./Yelp
World-famous prime rib and small animal-sized baked potatoes aren't the only things you'll find here that'll make your mouth faint. Tender ribeyes and strips served with decades of honed precision and expertise will leave you wanting more.
2. The Seasons, Lewiston
The Seasons in Lewiston is yet another one of those overlooked gems that serves up some incredible cuisine for every taste. Catering to the fine diner, steaks are succulent in every way, flawlessly plated, and perfectly proportioned.
3. Brickyard, Boise
Boise has a handful of stellar steakhouses, but Brickyard is no doubt a top spot for a fabulous steak experience that is warm and posh, without unnecessary frills. Serving all Certified Angus steaks with the option of adding some of their signature sauces to the mix, you can't go wrong with the full-flavored beef here.
4. Boondocks Restaurant, Island Park
A local favorite for good reason, this family-owned gem is renowned for spectacular huckleberry cheesecake, cinnamon rolls, and so much more. But when the craving for red meat hits, Boondocks knows how to deliver with perfectly seared steak that has just the right amount of buttery deliciousness to seal in the flavor.
5. Outpost Steakhouse, Almo
Noticing a trend? You know a steakhouse is good when their options are few - why cover up knockout beef with frills and sauces? This small-town gem may not look like it houses some of the best prepared steak in the state, but with such thick cuts, this country classic is hard to beat.
6. Wolf Lodge Inn, Coeur d'Alene
We knew from comments on the Idaho Only page that the Wolf Lodge is THE place to get steak... so of course we had to check it out. And believe me, they are everything a steak should be and more. Impeccable quality and juiciness in massive portions all the way up to a 40 oz. beast of carnivorous perfection. It's safe to say there's a real good reason why people come from all over the country to eat here.
7. Albi's Bar and Steakhouse
This Wallace classic is known as a local favorite and renowned for its perfect filet portions. horseradish mashed potatoes, and full bar menu.
8. Indian Creek Steakhouse, Caldwell
Rustic, country, and serving up giant steaks that are cooked over an open flame, this vintage Western-themed restaurant is actually a family-owned counterpart to the renowned Wolf Lodge in Coeur d'Alene.
9. Bridge St. Grill and Cabins, Stanley
We've featured Bridge Street before for their rockstar burgers and scenic dining deck, but this restaurant deserves plenty of recognition for its steak offerings as well. WOW.
10. Chandlers Steakhouse, Boise
A Boise and Idaho original, this stunning fine dining restaurant always tops the country's "best" lists -- and for good reason. From Kobe to Wagyu to Delmonico, no matter which cut or style you order, you'll find your fork (no knife needed) cutting through like butter; and the live music and atmosphere is certainly a bonus as well.
