It was 1879 when Oregon Trail pioneers Milford and Mattie Givens stumbled across this little slice of heaven in southern Idaho. They fell in love with the area on the spot and immediately decided to put down roots here instead of Oregon. Hence, Givens Hot Springs was born.
The hot spring has gone through a LOT of changes since then. In the early 1900s, the area was home to a hotel that accommodated a steady number of guests for several decades. Unfortunately, the hotel was completely destroyed in a 1939 fire and it was never rebuilt.
However, there's still a way for you to spend a tranquil weekend at this oasis in the desert. Tent and RV camping are allowed at Givens Hot Springs year round, and they even boast a couple of cabins that you can rent if you prefer a cozier accommodation. Of course, you don't have to camp in order to access the hot springs pool. Open every day from noon to 7:00 p.m., swimming in the heated pool costs $8 for adults and $5 for children and seniors.
