The holidays can certainly be rough on the wallets for everyone. However, the great thing about holiday cheer is that it’s completely free! There are plenty of things to do in Idaho this month that are sure to fill you with Christmas spirit. This massive holiday lights display in Lewiston is incredibly impressive and won’t cost you a thing. You definitely need to check it out this season!
Winter Spirit is an annual event that takes place in Lewiston, Idaho for the month of December and through New Years Day.
Every year, Locomotive Park gets all gussied up in about a million multi-colored holiday lights. It's a truly incredible scene to witness in person.
Even the antique train engine and caboose get all decked out in holiday spirit! Strolling through the lit-up park is a yearly tradition for many families.
There's even a giant fireplace in the park for when you feel like warming up. Winter Spirit has been providing this incredible winter display since 1994, when it started as just 12 decorated trees.
It's amazing to see how the event has grown over the years. More lights seems to get added every year and the displays become more involved and vibrant.
Santa himself makes an appearance on certain nights. Be sure to bring your camera and your Christmas wish list!
Admission to this magnificent display is free. Dozens of people volunteer their time every year to set up the lights weeks in advance. A ton of hard work goes into preparing for this event, and the end result is marvelous.
The whole park looks even more magical with snow on the ground and covering the trees. You'll certainly feel like you're walking through a real Winter Wonderland. Winter Spirit is sure to become one of your favorite holiday traditions.
