Fall could be considered Idaho’s “secret season”. Outdoor recreation is most abundant during the seasons of summer and winter. However, there’s something utterly magical about seeking out our state’s beautiful fall landscapes. If you have yet to go on an autumn adventure this year then you should definitely seek out this hidden park. This park is a wonderful example of a hidden gem. It’s the type of place you don’t easily stumble upon and you almost have to know exactly where it is in order to find it. However, once you DO find this place, you’ll see that it was totally worth the effort. Take a look for yourself!
Hiding within a residential portion of West Boise is a beautiful little park you never would've expected to find: Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve. The 44-acre is the definition of an "oasis" and you're about to see why.
You'll find the park located on the edge of Boise's West Bench at 5301 N Maple Grove Rd, Boise, ID 83704. The park itself is hidden from view of the nearby road and the parking lot can be found tucked away inconspicuously at the bottom of a hill.
The park is a fairly recent development and was originally opened back in 2012. The purpose of the park was to protect the beautiful wildlife habitat that exists here but also make it accessible for the public to see for themselves.
Simply put, this place is downright stunning. Although the park is located right in the middle of town, you can't help but feel like you've traveled way out into the wilderness. The drone of cars driving down the road seems to dissipate and all of the sudden you are surrounded by pure, untouched natural beauty.
The hidden park takes on an especially breathtaking appearance during the fall season. It's during this time of year that the entire landscape is awash in magical shades of yellow, orange, and red. It honestly looks like a scene straight off of a postcard!
If you live in the area and you've been looking for a quick and easy way to get out and soak up the autumnal beauty, this is the place for you. However, the park is beautiful enough that it's well worth a small road trip if you don't live in Boise!
There are just a few rules that have been put in place in order to protect the prime wildlife that call this park home. Pets are not permitted (except service animals). Fishing, boating, swimming, wading, bicycles, and glass are also not permitted. We'd like to keep this relatively new park as lovely as possible for as long as possible.
Autumn is a vastly underrated season here in Idaho. It's mainly known as a brief transitional period before the snow falls and turns the Gem State into a winter wonderland. However, this brief season is one of our loveliest and Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve perfectly embodies everything that this season has to offer.
