It’s not hard to fall in love with Idaho’s small towns. Each one boasts a unique personality that enchants you from the moment you step into the tight-knit community. However, one of the most divine towns is a little place called Priest River. This heavenly small town is simply paradise. Nestled right along the riverside and surrounded by natural beauty, the setting seems too good to be true. But more than that, Priest River is the type of place that reminds you why Idaho living is so great and how lucky we are to live here.
Welcome to the beautiful little town of Priest River, Idaho. Nestled at the base of the Selkirk Mountains and right at the confluence of the Priest and Pend Oreille rivers, we're pretty sure this might just be the most heavenly small town in the entire state.
A visit to Priest River is a must whenever you find yourself in North Idaho. Not only is the town's setting absolutely stunning, but the town itself is full of rich history and interesting attractions. It's the epitome of small-town Idaho and you can't help but fall in love with it.
First of all, Priest River's downtown district is loaded with the most charming historic buildings, including the recently renovated Beardmore Block. The block is a historic commercial structure that dates back to the 1920s and it represents the optimism that Priest River would eventually become an economic hub.
This optimism made sense considering the town's location at the confluence of two major rivers. However, the town never did become a major industrial center. Both The Great Depression and World War II may have contributed to the town's gradual decline. It may not have lived up to initial expectations but one thing is for sure—Priest River has never been lovelier.
The small-town charm will have you instantly feeling at home, but the town's surroundings are begging to be explored as well. With the Selkirk Mountains right there, adventure is never out of reach at Priest River.
And a visit to the Priest Lake Area is always a must when you're in the area. With an abundnace of recreation opportunities and jaw-dropping scenery, Priest Lake is definitely one of Idaho's best-kept secrets.
It's actually kind of surprising to think that only 1,750 people call Priest River their home. After all, you'll find that it's extremely difficult to tear yourself away from this little slice of paradise after visiting. You might find yourself wishing you could stay forever!
