One of Idaho’s most unique and creepiest Halloween attractions is back with a vengeance this year. After taking two years off, the Bellevue Haunted Forest will be scaring people once again. The Haunted Forest is a unique spin on your typical “haunted house” type of attraction. Instead of exploring a creepy old house, you’ll be strolling through a beautiful nature preserve. However, you’re bound to come across more than a few frights during your time in the forest so keep an eye out! Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind attraction. Keep reading for all of the information.
Located on the banks of the Big Wood River in Bellevue, the Howard Preserve was first transformed into a creepy Halloween attraction back in 2008. Since then, it's become one of the most highly anticipated attractions in the state. After a two-year hiatus the Bellevue Haunted Forest is back...and you don't want to miss it.
The Bellevue Haunted Forest is considered one of the scariest haunts in the state for good reason. Every year, the forest gets a complete makeover and turns into a setting that's straight out of your nightmares. Complete with volunteer actors who are ready to pop out on you at any time, this place definitely looks pretty freaky!
The forest follows a specific theme each year. This year the theme is "resurrection". Few details have been released regarding what the theme entails but you can imagine it's probably going to involve plenty of zombies, mummies, and ghostly creatures.
So what exactly does a visit to this creepy forest entail? As you enter the preserve you'll be led on a guided tour atop the forest's walking path. During the tour you'll come across several "stations" where certain scenes are acted out in front of you. In the past, stations have included a haunted pirate ship, Dante's Inferno, and even characters from the beloved horror movie "Friday the 13th".
On top of the theatrics, the forest itself also has a spooky factor to it. Legend has it that the meadow on the west side of the preserve was the site of an "unofficial graveyard" and even contained actual gallows. These gallows are said to be responsible for over 200 hangings. Who knows what type of real creepy entities hang out at the preserve when night falls...
There is no age limit when it comes to entry into the forest. However, be warned that the Haunted Forest is intended to give visitors a truly frightening experience. Kids and those who are easily scared might want to consider visiting the forest earlier in the evening since dark is when this haunt gets really spooky.
Entry into the Bellevue Haunted Forest is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 15 and under. There are only 500 tickets per night sold so be sure to grab your tickets soon! For more information, visit the attraction's Facebook page here.
