Hiding in the foothills surrounding Boise, this old cemetery has plenty of creepy legends associated with it. There’s something oddly tranquil about this graveyard in the daytime, but once the sun goes down, you’ll want to make sure that you’re far away. If you live for exploring Idaho’s creepy spots, you’ll want to check this out! Just remember to bring a buddy with you.
By all accounts, the old Fort Boise Military Cemetery is entirely inactive. There hasn't been a burial in the site for over a century. However, some say this graveyard is anything BUT inactive, at least when it comes to paranormal activity.
The Fort Boise Cemetery is the final resting place for 247 people. Most of these people were army officers, enlisted men, or family members of military individuals. The tranquil location, hidden away in the foothills, is an amazingly peaceful location.
In fact, the cemetery is surprisingly well-kept considering its age. The City of Boise still maintains it and keeps the area nice for the souls resting here. However, there are definitely some creepy stories surrounding this cemetery that might make you think twice about visiting it.
For instance, visitors have reported seeing the apparition of a child sitting on the only bench in the cemetery. Others have claimed to see the figure of a soldier standing near the graveyard's flag.
Some paranormal investigators have even took it upon themselves to dig a little deeper and have claimed to witness a disembodied voice, which they happened to capture on a recording device. They asked if anybody was in the cemetery, to which the voice replied with his name, "Jerry".
The Fort Boise Cemetery definitely has the look of a haunted old cemetery! It doesn't surprise us to hear about the many unsettling legends associated with this place.
Although the cemetery can definitely be a nice place to visit, especially if you happen to be hiking in the area, we definitely wouldn't advise visiting if you're sensitive to spooks and scares. No matter what you believe, you have to admit that this place is easily one of the creepiest in Idaho.
