Farragut State Park is one of the more popular state parks in Idaho. While there are many features and natural wonders within this park’s boundaries that you’ll want to check out, the reportedly haunted Museum at the Brig in Idaho should be at the top of your list. This museum tells the history of the Farragut Naval Training Station and Idaho’s role in World War II. However, this historical museum is not just a place to learn — it’s also a place where you might just encounter a paranormal experience.
The Farragut Naval Training Station was built in response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. It was once the world’s second-largest naval training facility and more than 293,000 sailors were trained on its grounds.
The Farragut Naval Training Station's brig was a square building with an inner courtyard. This brig is still standing today and is just one of the 776 buildings that remain at the former training station. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The brig has been transformed into a museum where you can explore and learn more about this station and World War II. There are dozens of exhibits, an audio-visual theater, gift shop, and more for you to enjoy during your visit.
Over the years, many guests have reported paranormal activity around the brig. Some people report seeing the spirit of a man in a prison uniform inside the brig, while others report seeing a man wearing a navy uniform wandering around the outside.
Other reports include objects moving without any explanation, cell doors clanging inside the brig, orb sightings, and unexplained cold feelings.
Memorial Park sits across the street from the brig and there are many stories of paranormal activity at this location as well. Here, you will see a statue of a sailor that many people report will turn his head and follow you with his gaze.
Whether you are a history buff or ghost hunter, the Museum at the Brig in northern Idaho is one destination that you need to check out for yourself. You never know what you will find, feel, or see!
