It seems like there’s a fun event going on every single weekend during Fall. With all of the fall festivals taking place all over the state, it’s hard to get bored during this special time of year. There are plenty of opportunities for taking the family out for a day full of seasonal fun, including eating every variation of pumpkin-flavored foods and buying all of the crafts you need to get into the Autumnal spirit. We’ve featured six of the most promising looking harvest festivals here for you along with the dates of their occurrence, for those of you that need a little help deciding which festival looks best. So take a look, and mark your calendars!
1. Eagle Harvest Festival
This harvest festival is set along Old State Street in gorgeous Eagle, Idaho. The festival features pumpkin decorating, face painting, cookie decorating, plenty of activities for the children, the Saturday Market, music, and more! The best part is that it is all free. All you have to do is show up ready to participate in every Fall activity you can think of. This year the festival will take place on October 14th.
2. Fall For History in Wallace, Idaho
The Fall For History festival is one of the most unique festivals in North Idaho. Not only is it a fall festival, it also takes a unique focus on the region's history with tours, presentations, and reenactments. A guided tour takes you through the most historic places in Wallace and a special reenactment brings to life what life was like during the town's silver mining days. This festival is a truly unique event in one of the most charming and historic towns in Idaho! This year the festival will take place October 5th through October 8th.
3. Emmett Harvest Festival & Street Fair
The Emmett Harvest Festival is an event that highlights the importance of Emmett's harvesting lifestyle. This small community thrives off of the crops they grow and the harvest festival is a celebration of that fact. This festival and street fair features music, movies, family friendly activities, and tons and tons of food to indulge in! The local orchards are open to the public for picking during this free event, as well. This year the festival will take place on October 6th and 7th.
4. Fall Harvest Festival at the Idaho Botanical Garden
Is there anything better than celebrating one of the most beautiful times of year in one of the most beautiful places in Boise? The Idaho Botanical Garden puts on a special celebration of autumn this year on October 7th and 8th. This festival goes all out, and features live music, wagon rides, a beer and wine garden, kids activities, lots of food, and the Scarecrow Stroll (stroll through the garden and look for all of the scarecrows...vote for your favorite one at the end!). Festival goers may also shop in the artist market which contains art from local artists.
5. Harvest Time Festival in Twin Falls, Idaho
This festival is a craft-lover's paradise! The Harvest Time Festival boasts the title of "Largest Arts and Crafts Fair in the Intermountain West". The festival brings together artists from Idaho and surrounding states including Utah, Montana, Wyoming, California, and Washington. The variety of products available to purchase at the fair is immense. If you can think of it, the fair probably has it. Home decor, metal work, jewelry, artwork, and of course homemade treats! This year the Harvest Time Festival will take place November 10th through the 12th.
6. Great Pumpkin Festival in Pocatello, Idaho
The Great Pumpkin Festival is a new festival in Pocatello that is sure to have everything you could want in a fall festival. The festival will have an apple pie baking contest (yum!), pumpkin painting, crafts and antiques, food, music and more. This inaugural festival is sure to be a hit and will take place at the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market on Main Street. The festival will take place on Saturday, October 7th.
