However, in the winter months, finding the perfect state park getaway in the Gem State is a little more difficult. While we’ve explored and written about many of these state parks around the state, during the winter months, there is always one that tops our list — Harriman State Park. Harriman State Park is located in southeastern Idaho, near Island Park and just outside of Yellowstone National Park. This state park is well known for its incredible fly-fishing waters, but in the winter, it becomes a beautiful area with so much more to do.
While classic skiing is popular, this is also a terrific place to explore on a pair of snowshoes. You can follow the trails, look out for wildlife, and enjoy some spectacular views.
Fat Bikes are off-road bicycles with oversized tires that let you travel over the snow with ease. They can create quite a challenging workout, but it’s one of the most unique ways to explore the outdoors during the winters in Idaho.
