You’re bound to come across some amazing things while driving down the wide-open highway in Idaho, like a completely unassuming winery with some of the best wine in the state. Located right on the side of the road, this old farmhouse may not look like a world-class wine tasting destination, but it totally is. Fujishin Family Cellars is a wonderful surprise for those exploring Idaho’s wine country, and you simply have to give them a try!
Tucked right along Sunny Slope Road is an unassuming building known as "The Shed." Built in 1943, the white building with its red roof used to be the old Robison Fruit Ranch. Today, it's home to one of the most charming wineries in Idaho Wine Country: Fujishin Family Cellars.
Once used as a place for packing fruit, the Old Shed is now a wine tasting room that's full of charm. Surrounded by a landscape of rural scenery and vineyards, it makes for a fantastic place to sip and enjoy all that our little wine region has to offer.
One of the best things about Idaho Wine Country is just how small it feels, especially in an industry that's loaded with massive winemaking factories. The smaller wineries, like award-winning Fujishin Family Cellars, reminds us that sometimes simpler is better.
Fujishin released their very first wines back in 2009 when they opened a small (and shared) tasting room in downtown Caldwell. A couple of years later they found a permanent home at the Old Shed, and we think it suits them perfectly. They've been a favorite stop for many on the Sunnyslope Wine Trail ever since!
Fujishin Family Cellars has been adamant about focusing on the lesser-known varieties, but they're bound to have something for every wine enthusiast. With a diverse selection of wine including blends, Chardonnay, Merlot, Riesling, and Viognier, you'll be tempted to try one of everything.
Wine tastings are currently available at Fujishin on a reservation basis. There is no cost for a tasting at this time. They also boast a wine club for those who just can't get enough of their fantastic wine, with options for both casual wine lovers and connoisseurs.
Don't be fooled by this family winery's humble roadside location. This little winery is one of the most unique stops in the Sunnyslope Wine District and it belongs on every wine-loving Idahoan's bucket list. Learn more on their website.
