Tucked away in a strip mall near downtown Boise, Janjou Patisserie looks pretty unassuming from the outside. However, don't be fooled by its quaint exterior. There are some real treasures hiding inside!
Janjou Patisserie first opened its physical doors in 2013. However, it was initially founded in 2008 as a wholesale bakery which sold most of its baked goods to local shops. Over the years, it's established a reputation as the best French bakery that Idaho has to offer.
Owned and operated by a husband-wife team, Moshit Mizrachi-Gabbitas and Chuck Gabbitas, Janjou Patisserie is truly like a little slice of Parisian paradise in the Treasure Valley. Before moving to Boise, Moshit graduated from a leading baking school in Israel and took many classes by renowned French pastry chefs, so you know what you're getting at Janjou is the real thing!
Upon walking into the bakery, you'll be struck by the beautiful pastries staring back at you from the pristine glass cases. Each pastry is like a miniature work of art, created only with high-quality local ingredients and handcrafted with utmost love and care.
The selection is wide and varied, boasting everything from croissants to eclairs. However, one of their most beloved items is the Quiche Lorraine. Complete with a flaky and buttery crust and served with a tasty little salad, a bite from this quiche is the perfect way to start the day!
One of the best things about Janjou is its simplicity. The stark white cafe is anything but flashy, but it's perfect for the bakery. Here, the pastries speak for themselves. With delicious creations like this, you don't really need anything else.
You may just find that you can't get enough of Janjou's homemade goodies. In this case, be sure to pick up a container of sablés, crinkles, palmiers, or crackers to go home with you. You can even order a select assortment of them off of their website here .
