Idaho is home to hundreds of must-do hiking trails, but sometimes it’s worth venturing across state lines for an adventure to remember. The Limber Pine Trail is one such adventure. This short and easy forest hike can be found approximately five miles south of the Idaho-Utah border as the crow flies, and it’s well worth finding when you’re itching for a memorable outing. Not only does it lead you through a delightful and peaceful forest, but you’ll eventually end up at the landmark for which the trail is named: a 500-year-old organism known as the Limber Pine Tree.

The Limber Pine Trail is an easy, 1.2-mile loop trail that is great for casual hikers and families. The trail, although short, is packed with scenic views as it leads you through a calm and gorgeous little forest.
You'll find the trailhead located in Logan Canyon, right along Highway 89. A parking lot can be found near mile marker 492, on the south side of the road and just past the sign for Rich County.
Upon setting off on the trail from the parking lot, you'll immediately be led into a dense grove of towering pine trees. It's absolutely stunning and the trail's grade is gentle enough that you'll have plenty of energy to take it all in.
The trail eventually leads you out of the forest and into an open area with grand sweeping views of the surrounding scenery. In certain areas, you'll even be treated to the sight of Bear Lake's vibrant turquoise waters in the distance.
The trail then enters into a gorgeous aspen forest before arriving at the tree for which the trail is named. Limber Pine is a sight to be seen, as it's absolutely massive. It's actually not one tree, but several that have grown together. Most importantly, it's estimated to be over 500-years-old!
