All over the Gem State, you will find incredible restaurants. While some of these places to eat serve entrees you have likely had dozens of times, like hamburgers and steaks, there are others, like Alyonka Russian Cuisine in Boise, that provide you with a new dining experience. Alyonka Russian Cuisine is a Russian restaurant where you’ll find foods you may have never tasted before, like Pelmeni dumplings and Pavlova. This is one Idaho restaurant where you will certainly have a feast on some of the best Russian food in Idaho.
Alyonka Russian Cuisine is owned by Elena DeYoung, who was born and raised in the former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan. She opened her restaurant in 2019 and ever since, has been serving some of the best Russian food in Idaho.
When you walk inside this delightful restaurant, you’ll notice it isn’t large and has limited seating, but it is beautifully decorated and the entire restaurant has a friendly and welcoming feel.
The menu features both cold and hot appetizers. While there are several options to choose from, the blini Russian crepes are a must-try. You can choose from several different fillings for your blini including vegetables, ground beef and mushrooms, and sour cream, salmon caviar, and smoked salmon.
When it comes to the entrees, you will find items that you have likely heard of before such as beef stroganoff, stuffed sweet peppers, and pork or chicken shish kebabs.
However, you’ll also want to try some new items like pelmeni or vareniki. These are handmade Russian-style dumplings with various seasonings and fillings and they are delicious.
You can’t come to Alyonka Russian Cuisine without trying some of the incredible homemade desserts. You can purchase a dessert sampler, which gives you a taste of several desserts available at this restaurant.
But, we also recommend the Pavlova. This is one of the most popular dessert options on the menu and you won't regret ordering it. Pavlova is a small circle of baked meringue that is light and airy inside, yet crispy on the outside.
Alyonka Russian Cuisine is open Tuesday through Sunday each week. It is closed on Mondays.
