Virgil Phillips Farm County Park is a lovely park with a little bit of everything for everyone. Home to a variety of habitats and different types of native wildlife, it makes for a wonderful place to lose yourself for the day.
The park is comprised of property that used to belong to Virgil Phillips' farm. Phillips bequeathed the property to the city in 1972 so that the public could have a chance to enjoy this awe-inspiring region of North Idaho's famous Palouse.
Little remains of what used to be Virgil Phillips' farm, except for the old plum and apple trees that he had once nurtured. The pristine region almost looks like it's never been touched, with the exception of a few hiking trails and informative signs.
As you explore, you can't help but be entirely swept up in the park's peaceful beauty. The region is home to several ponds and streams, the sounds of which will fill your ears. There's something delightfully wild about this place. You almost can't believe a city is just a few miles away.
