The beer industry is booming here in Idaho, with new breweries popping up all over the place and existing breweries gaining worldwide attention. It’s definitely an exciting time to be a beer enthusiast in the Gem State! However, there’s one farm brewery that’s really changing the game when it comes to the way beer is produced. Lone Mountain Farms serves up homegrown farm beer right here in Idaho and it’s definitely worth a visit.
Located in Athol, Lone Mountain Farms is a humble operation run by Luke and Emily Black. The farm focuses on growing vegetables, berries, and grains through sustainable practices. However, they've recently shifted their focus to another product: beer!
If you live in the area, you might've seen Lone Mountain Farms selling their delicious produce at the local Kootenai County Farmers Market. They even offer a produce subscription service, in which you can receive a weekly delivery of fresh seasonal goodies.
The farm's sustainable and organic practices have made them a favorite among many, but the recent addition of farm brewed beer marks the beginning of a new chapter for Lone Mountain. Using their own hops and grains, they are creating farm beer unlike anything you've tasted before.
As a result, Lone Mountain officially has one of the region's very first on-farm brewing operations. Their brand new taproom opened its doors just last month, and it's ready for visitors!
Currently, the farm's tasting room is open Monday through Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They boast eight farm-craft beers on tap, which you can taste on-site or take home in a growler or cans.
This farm brewery may be in its very beginnings, but the future is looking bright. Lone Mountain will even be launching a beer club at the beginning of 2020. Club members can enjoy discounted growlers and cans, a free birthday beer, and exclusive release tastings.
Lone Mountain Farm may just be the only destination in Idaho that serves real farm beer. We all know beer tastes better when it's local, but using farm-grown hops and grains takes it to a whole other level. Try it for yourself and stop by the farm soon.
