Idaho is no stranger to incredible city parks. All over the state, you will find parks full of activities, playgrounds, and so much more. Located in Idaho Falls in eastern Idaho is Tautphaus Park, one of the most spectacular city parks in the state. This 84.5-acre city park is home to a zoo, ice rink, skate park, etc. You can easily spend all day exploring and enjoying all that this beautiful park has to offer.
Tautphaus Park is located on South Boulevard in Idaho Falls, not far from this city’s downtown area. This city park is one of the oldest parks in Idaho Falls, and also one of the largest with 84.5 acres to explore.
Tautphaus Park has many of the amenities you will see in most city parks around the Gem State. Here, you will find multiple playgrounds, five ballfields, three shelters, four tennis courts, and lots and lots of grassy areas to relax on.
This zoo is only seven acres in size, but will see more than 300 individual animals and 130 different species represented.
The Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Arena is also located at Tautphaus Park. This ice rink hosts hockey and figure skating lessons and tournaments, and public skating is also available at designated times.
If you love to skate or want to learn, head to the skateboard park located in the heart of Tautphaus Park. This is a popular place for individuals of all ages on skateboards and scooters.
As you walk through Tautphaus Park, you may also see a Ferris wheel and other rides. This is the Idaho Falls Funland, once a popular attraction in the community that has been closed down.
However, as of the time of this writing, the City of Idaho Falls has created plans to revive this entire area including restoring the original rides, building a miniature golf course, bringing in additional rides, and more. You can learn more about these plans and their current progress on the Funland at the Zoo website.
When in Idaho Falls, a visit to Tautphaus Park is an absolute must. You can learn more about this city park in Idaho on the City of Idaho Falls website.
