The tail end of summer is finally here and fall will be here for you even know it. The temperatures may be getting cooler but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your time outdoors. If anything, fall is one of the best seasons to go exploring the Gem State since this is the special time of year when nature erupts with splendid colors of gold, red, and orange. The fall foliage hike featured below is absolutely spectacular during the fall months. As you stroll along this stunning nature trail, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to the scene in a painting! The views are seriously that good. Take a look.
Hiding just outside the southeastern town of Pocatello is a beautiful area known as City Creek. This area is home to an impressive trail system that takes you through the most amazing fall scenery. You'll definitely want to make it your mission to complete this hike as the colors begin to change.
Surrounding Pocatello is a wonderful area comprised of benches, hills, and mountains. The area is just a mere ten minutes away from town, yet it feels like you've entered a beautiful natural oasis. As the colors of fall descend on this region, it becomes a popular spot for fall foliage strolls and photoshoots...and it's easy to see why.
The City Creek Trail is dense with deciduous trees and aspens which turn into a myriad of vibrant colors as the seasons begin to change. Brilliant shades of yellow and red will simply overwhelm you.
There are several trails to take advantage of within the City Creek area. If you'd like to take it nice and easy while soaking up the views, we recommend the Beginner Loop Trail which is just a mere 2.6-miles and rated as easy.
A number of other trails offered within the area are great for ATVs, horses, mountain biking, running, and more intense hiking. There's truly something for everyone. On top of the outstanding natural beauty, it's not hard to see why City Creek is considered one of Pocatello's greatest hidden gems.
You definitely don't want to wait too long to visit this beautiful area. Peak time for viewing fall colors is generally during late September to early October. This is when the colors are most vibrant and the leaves have not yet fallen.
Can you just imagine strolling through this wooded area while breathing in the crisp autumn air? We recommend bringing along a thermos of hot cocoa and a cozy sweater for ultimate seasonal satisfaction! And don't forget your camera.
