The Japanese Pavilion is a gorgeous public park and garden located in Idaho Falls. This beautiful oasis will make you forget you're in an urban setting. This is a favorite park among the locals, and it's easy to see why.
The pavilion was opened to the public in 2016. It was built as an extension to the already popular Friendship Garden. The greatest aspect of the park is that it is the product of community effort. Volunteers came together to work on additional features which would make the park even more magical.
Ultimately, the park is the result of a fantastic relationship between Idaho Falls and its sister city, Tokai Mura in Japan. The humble garden began when Tokai Mura donated a large stone lantern decades ago. The lantern was placed in what would become the Japanese Pavilion years later.
Strolling through the idyllic park, you really feel transported to another world. The atmosphere is peaceful with only the sound of rushing water and wildlife to be heard.
The park sits right next to the Snake River, making it the perfect spot to sit and watch the beautiful waterfall in the distance. Charming foot bridges provide access to both sides of the river.
This is the ideal place to get away from the heat during summer, since the majority of the park is shaded by bridges and trees. Beautiful ponds can be found throughout the pavilion.
Only in Idaho would you find a beautiful gem like this that was built completely by the hands of volunteers. The love and hard work that went into making this park look the way it does is apparent. You could spend hours and hours basking in the park's beauty.
