Island Park, Idaho is a tiny town of approximately 280 people and a recreational paradise. It's tucked away in the eastern corner of the state, not far from either the Montana or Wyoming border.

Harriman State Park is located just three miles from Island Park. The idyllic park is home to some of the most picturesque landscapes along with an abundance of wildlife including elk, moose, trumpeter swans, cranes, and bears.

The geography of Island Park is actually considered very unique. Although the area is largely flat, it experiences an unusually high amount of precipitation.
The town sits at an elevation of 6,000 feet which is the same as the nearby areas of the Teton Valley or Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Yet, these other areas receive way less precipitation and are actually considered quite arid.
In the spring and summer, Island Park maintains a lush green landscape of forested areas among ponds, streams, and rivers. In the winter, the area receives about three times more snowfall than surrounding areas that contain the same elevation.
The high precipitation has made Island Park a blissful destination no matter what time of year it is. It's enchanting places like Island Park that prove Idaho is comprised of way more than dry desert landscapes. In fact, our beautiful state is much, much more than that.
