Here in Idaho, our paradise looks a lot different than the typical image that comes to mind when you hear that word. Instead of sandy beaches and palm trees, our paradise consists of pine trees, meandering rivers, and lush green fields. Our state is home to endless gorgeous scenery, and finding our own personal favorite piece of it is something every Idahoan should do at some point. The beautiful creek and waterfall featured at the end of this hiking trail is a great place to start. Immerse yourself in one of the state’s most majestic landscapes and plan to seek out this little slice of paradise for yourself.
Seek out a little-known slice of heaven when you embark on the trail to a hidden gem known as Lady Face Falls. This creekside waterfall doesn't get as much attention as nearby Stanley Lake or Bridalveil Falls, but don't be fooled. It's a sight you'll want to see.
The hike to Lady Face Falls is considered moderate and is great for families. The entire hike is under five miles round trip and contains little to no elevation gain. It's perfectly easygoing and great for taking in the lovely landscape that surrounds it.
To get there, you'll find the trailhead at the Inlet Campground in Stanley Lake Creek Canyon. You'll take off on the Stanley Lake Creek Trail, which is ADA-accessible for the first mile or so and incredibly scenic.
From the trailhead, you'll follow the trail as it weaves along a fence which follows Stanley Lake Creek. Dense thickets of willow trees will surround you, and you'll find yourself completely immersed in the natural landscape.
After about half a mile, you'll be led into a field of wildflowers before meeting up with the Alpine Way Trail. From here, you'll continue through stunning groves of forest towards the north canyon wall.
At this point, you should come across a small sign that marks a spur trail that leads to Lady Face Falls. What's waiting for you at the end is simply extraordinary! The falls plummet over a ridge and into a heavenly little pool below.
Here you can dip your toes and relax for a bit before heading back towards the trailhead. Alternatively, you can continue along the main trail for just over a mile to see Bridalveil Falls. Whichever you choose, be sure to enjoy the complete and utter paradise that surrounds you!
