When it comes to vacation destinations in our country, it’s usually the biggest and liveliest cities that get the most attention. However, there’s definitely a lot of value to be found in those lesser-known cities and towns—especially the ones here in Idaho! We’ve known this to be true for a long while, but it was still nice to see one of our towns recently named on a list of “The Coolest Towns In America” from Matador Network . Ketchum is an amazing destination that boasts a little bit of everything and it’s definitely worthy of this recognition
The good people over at Matador Network recently compiled a list of "The 25 Coolest Towns In America" and we were delighted to see that our very own Ketchum made an appearance!
The list specifically focused on unique towns in America with populations smaller than 100,000 residents. We can definitely see why Matador Network chose to include Ketchum among charming towns like Marfa, Texas and Cooperstown, New York. It simply embodies everything there is to love about small-town living.
The list specifically mentioned Ketchum's appeal among outdoor enthusiasts as one of the main reasons it was named among the country's coolest towns. The town thrives in every season, but it's especially renowned for its winter activities including skiing and snowboarding at the world-famous Sun Valley Ski Resort.
Not to mention, the fly fishing is absolutely divine in this little mountain town. The town's Warm Springs Creek boasts a healthy supply of trout, whereas the nearby Salmon River is great for capturing steelhead and chinook.
However, there's also a lot of great culture to go along with Ketchum's outstanding natural qualities. From the art galleries and exhibits at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts to the live music at Whiskey Jacques, there's always something going on in this charming community.
Unlike many small towns, Ketchum also boasts a great assortment of dining and drinking spots. Whether you're craving something classy like a wood-fired pizza at Enoteca or a good ol' beer and burger at Sawtooth Brewery, there's truly something for everyone.
All things considered, it's pretty easy to see why Ketchum was picked as one of the coolest towns in America. We definitely agree! In fact, it was a great reminder for us to plan a little getaway to this central Idaho town just to experience all it has to offer.
