Located right outside of Coeur d'Alene is a charming little pumpkin farm that has become a treasured family tradition for many. Prairie Home Farm is a lovely U-Pick pumpkin farm and it's the perfect place to spend an autumn day.
Meander onto the farm and spend a few hours surrounded by old-fashioned charm. Forget about your worries as you peruse all of the treasures that this farm has to offer. This place isn't just a pumpkin farm. It's a place to get away from it all and enjoy the simple things in life.
The farm is open to the public every Wednesday and Saturday in the month of October from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. You may visit on off-days, but it's required you make an appointment ahead of time.
The 1920s-style farm is like a gem of the past. Decked out with hand-picked antique decorations and rustic charm, you'll feel as if you've entered a time machine and been transported to a different era. Family photo ops are everywhere so be sure to bring your camera!
The farm's main attraction is their beautiful pumpkin patch. Grab one of their Radio Flyer wagons and head out to the patch. Once you pick out your perfect pumpkin, you can head to the shed to weigh it on one of their antique scales. Pumpkins are priced at 39 cents per pound. '
The farm isn't just a gimmick. It's home to real animals, many of which you can visit for yourself. Pigs, sheep, horses, goasts, chickens, geese, ducks, and rabbits can be found in their pens or wandering the property. Visitors can purchase a bag of food and try their hand at feeding any of the animals. A food bag is just $4.50 and includes admission to the farm.
The farm also puts on special events every once in awhile. Story Telling In The Barn is an annual event that occurs on the second to last Saturday in October. Bring the kids and cuddle up on one of the barn's hay bales while you listen to Spokane Story Telling League recite a charming tale.
