Definitely don't miss out on visiting The Butterfly Haven in Pingree, Idaho before spring ends. This delightful butterfly habitat is an awesome attraction for people of all ages, and seeing it is definitely a mesmerizing experience.
The Butterfly Haven opened its doors earlier this year. It's comprised of a gift shop along with butterfly greenhouses. Here you can see some of nature's most stunning insects up close and personal, and it's just as magical as it sounds.
The exhibit is home to around 400 butterflies, all of which are species native to Idaho. As soon as you walk in, you'll be totally surrounded by these fluttering, colorful creatures.
The habitat is also home to a ton of gorgeous plants, only some of which are native to Idaho. However, each plant was put into the habitat in order to host caterpillars as they transform into butterflies. They serve as a source of nectar for the butterflies, as well.
Walking through the indoor botanical garden, you may just forget you're in eastern Idaho. However, there's a lot more to this place than the beauty of it. You'll also come out with a greater appreciation for these little creatures and all that they do.
Butterflies are incredibly important to our ecosystems. Butterflies and bees are considered necessary to pollinate about 75% of flowing plants. Sadly, both of these insects are slowly declining. Visiting the greenhouse may give you some ideas about how to turn your own backyard into a butterfly haven in order to help the species!
Visit The Butterfly Haven this spring for a unique experience that will wow both kids and adults. They will open for the season in April, and admission is $9 for adults and $7 for kids. For more information, check out their website here .
