If you’re a burger lover in Idaho, then the Golden Wheel name should definitely sound familiar. Considered one of the most iconic burger joints in the Gem State, this little drive-thru has been slinging burgers since the early 1950s. Despite the fact that they’ve been around forever, this burger drive-thru is still very quaint and unassuming. Located on the side of a busy road in Boise, it’s the type of spot you can easily miss. Here’s why you should be sure to stop here for your next burger fix!
A longtime favorite since 1950-somethin', Golden Wheel Drive-In is a Boise icon. Famous for their no-frills burgers, fries, and milkshakes, it delivers everything you want when you've got a craving for some fried comfort food!
Located on the side of busy Fairview Avenue, Golden Wheel is a surprisingly unassuming drive-in burger joint. With only an old-fashioned neon sign to entice drivers, it's definitely a spot that has thrived off of word-of-mouth for the last 70 years!
The drive-in is small, but you'll find there's plenty of easy parking and even a small dining area. But of course, it's not the appearance that counts, but the food...and it does not disappoint.
On the menu, you'll find a large selection of oh-so-delicious fast food, including over a dozen burger varieties. Popular options include the Bacon Burger, Double Meat Burger, and the Hawaiian Burger which comes with ham, cheese, and pineapple.
The burgers themselves are nothin' fancy, but that's exactly what makes them so delicious. Served up with a fresh side of fries (and fry sauce,) they definitely hit the spot when you've got that burger craving. Best of all, they are cheap. Basically all of the items on the menu are under $5 each, which somehow makes it taste that much better.
Don't forget dessert! The ice cream at Golden Wheel is just as renowned as the burgers, including their delicious sundaes. They also offer shakes, malts, floats, and spins. Keep an eye out for the Huckleberry Milkshake which is only available during huckleberry season in the summer months.
Some things just never get old, including a good ol' burger and fries from Golden Wheel. Come and check out the burger drive-thru that's been going strong since the 1950s and stop by for a bite soon.
