Bruneau Dunes State Park in Idaho is one of the more popular and well-known state parks in the state. It is also one of the most unique and exciting to explore. While there is so much to do in this Idaho state park, we recommend exploring one of its hiking trails — the Bruneau Dunes Loop. This trail takes you up a steep sand dune, but it is an experience and view that will be hard to forget.
The Bruneau Dunes Loop is a 2.3-mile loop trail that is not for the faint of heart. This is a trail that is going to work you both physically and mentally.
This loop trail will take you around a small lake. While the water views are quite beautiful, it is the sand dunes that are going to capture your attention.
On this hike, you will climb to the top of a sand dune. This is not going to be easy. The inclines are steep, and the sand makes the footing challenging. You will want to wear proper footwear and give yourself plenty of time to make the climb.
You will not only be able to see for miles, but the terrain is quite unique when compared to other hikes in Idaho. It is certainly a one-of-a-kind hiking trail in Idaho.
Make sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and proper hiking gear on this hike. This trail can become extremely hot and difficult in the summer months, so early mornings and evenings are some of the best times to explore. Plus, when you hike during these times, you can capture some incredible sunrises and sunsets.
Be aware that there is a vehicle fee to enter Bruneau Dunes State Park in Idaho. You can learn more on the Idaho State Parks website. We also suggest bringing along a map to prevent getting lost on this trail.
